Who we are

Bedtime Hero is made by Jaka, a parent in Slovenia (EU). Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record: they are the seller on your receipt, they take the payment, and they handle sales tax and VAT.

What the website collects

• The Meta pixel sets a _fbp cookie, and a _fbc cookie if you came from a Facebook or Instagram ad. It tells Meta which pages you visited and when you started a checkout or bought, so we can see which ads bring parents who buy.
• Google Analytics sets _ga cookies. It tells Google which pages you visited, where you came from, whether you played the sample story, and when you started a checkout or bought, so we can see what works on the site. It never gets your email or your child's name.
• Microsoft Clarity sets _clck and _clsk cookies. It records how you move through the page: scrolls, taps, clicks and mouse movement, so we can replay visits and see where parents get stuck. It hides what you type into fields and your messages to us, so it never gets your email.
• Your browser keeps a few things on your own device: the pack you picked, the email you typed at checkout, and a discount you claimed. They stay on your device, so you don't have to type them again.
• Vercel, which hosts the site, keeps normal server logs, including IP addresses, for security and to fix problems.

You can block cookies in your browser or with a content blocker, and the site still works. You can also limit how Meta uses ad data in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, and turn off Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on. What checkout collects

• Before you pay, we ask for your email. We get it together with the pack you picked and your time zone, so we can help if the checkout doesn't go through.
• If you don't finish paying, we send you up to three reminder emails over the next two days, in your evening, the last one with a discount. Paying stops them, and every one has a link to unsubscribe.
• Payment happens in a Lemon Squeezy window. Your card details go to them and never reach us. They share your email, name, country and order with us, so we can give you your stories.
• Our server also reports the checkout and the purchase to Meta, with your email and name hashed: turned into a code that can't be turned back into the original. This lets Meta count a purchase even when an ad blocker stops the pixel.
• For the same reason, our server reports the purchase to Google Analytics too: the pack and the price, never your email or name.

What the story quiz collects

• In the quiz you tell us your child's first name, their age, and the story picks. To hear how the story starts, you give us your email.
• We keep them together, so the link we email you opens your story, and so the story you made becomes your first one if you buy.
• The opening you hear is written by us in advance; only your child's name is added. An AI voice service reads it aloud, and gets only those words.
• We email you the link to your story right away, and a few more emails about it over the next days. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and buying stops them too.
• Our server tells Meta that someone asked for a story preview, with your email hashed. Your child's name and picks never go to Meta.

What the story app collects

• You sign in with the email you paid with and your order number, or with a sign-in link we email you.
• For each story, you give us your child's first name, their age, and the story picks: who comes along, where it happens, and the life lesson. We keep them with your stories, so you can play them again.
• AI tools write and narrate each story from these picks. They get only what the story needs. A person on our team reads every story before it goes out.
• We email you when a story is ready.

Your voice, if you choose it

If you want stories told in your own voice, you read a few sentences off the screen, about 30 seconds. The AI voice service that narrates your stories uses the recording to make them sound like you. We use it only for your family's stories, never for ads or anything else. Ask us and we'll delete it.

Messages you send us

When you send a message through the site, we get the message and your email, so we can reply.

Who we share it with

• Lemon Squeezy, for payments, receipts and refunds.
• Meta, to measure our ads, as described above. Meta also uses what it receives under its own terms, to measure and improve ads.
• Google, to measure how the site is used, through Google Analytics.
• Microsoft, to see how the site is used, through Clarity.
• AI writing and voice services, to write and narrate your stories.
• Vercel hosts the site, Turso stores your stories, Resend sends our emails, and Slack is where our team sees new messages and story requests.

These services use your data only to do their job for us. We don't sell your personal information to anyone.

How long we keep it

• Your stories and story picks: as long as you have stories with us, so you can replay them. Ask and we delete them.
• Story quiz previews that didn't lead to a purchase: until we no longer need them, or right away if you ask.
• Checkout emails and messages: until we no longer need them, or right away if you ask.
• Order records: Lemon Squeezy keeps them for as long as tax law requires.

Children

Bedtime Hero is for parents. Children don't use the site or the app on their own, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. What we know about your child is only what you tell us to make their stories: their first name, age and story picks. We use it only for that. It never goes to Meta and never goes into an ad. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also object to how we use it, ask us to limit it, or ask us to send it to you in a form you can take elsewhere. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Slovenia, that's the Information Commissioner. Some US states give you similar rights, and we honor them in the same way.

To ask for any of this, send us a message. You don't need to give a reason. We reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes too. If you've bought stories, we'll also tell you by email.
